For those of you who know and love El Rodeo - there's a new addition to the family: El Rodeo Grill. Located on the corner of Six Forks and Sawmill/Mourning Dove, El Rodeo Grill took the family's trademark fresh, delicious Mexican food, put it into a Zeppelin, and elevated it to tantalizing new heights.
"The Grill" has, what looks at first glance, to be the standard selection of favorites - chimichagas, enchiladas, burritos and tacos, but a closer look will unveil a few specialties that shouldn't be overlooked. The restaurant features two uniquely scrumptious Chile Rellenos: Chile Rellenos Costa Brava - stuffed with shrimp and vegetables, drizzled with Chihuahua cheese and served on a bed of black bean puree. The other is the Chile Relleno en Nogada, filled with sautéed vegetables, raisins, almonds and herbs. To tell you which is my favorite would be like choosing my favorite child, so I'll abstain, and encourage you to try them both.
Other highly recommended dishes are the Carnitas (slowly braised pork), California-style burritos, and their decadently-delicious mango cheesecake.
Meal prices range from $5.99-$16.99, and portions are so generous, by the end of the day if feels like post-dessert Thanksgiving.
